Arima Onsen (有馬温泉) is a hot spring resort town located in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. It is one of the oldest hot spring resorts in Japan, having been a popular destination for travelers for over a thousand years.
Arima Onsen is famous for its high-quality hot springs, which are said to have therapeutic properties that can alleviate various ailments. The town is home to two main types of hot springs: “kinsen” (gold spring) and “ginsen” (silver spring). Kinsen is a reddish-brown spring rich in iron, said to be effective in treating conditions such as poor circulation, joint pain, and skin problems. Ginsen is a clear, carbonated spring containing radium, said to be effective in treating muscle pain, fatigue, high blood pressure, and arteriosclerosis.
In addition to hot springs, Arima Onsen offers a variety of other attractions, including traditional Japanese inns, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Visitors can also explore the town’s historical sites, such as Onsen-ji Temple, Arima Inari Shrine, and take in the scenic views from the ropeway to Mount Rokko. The Arima Toy Museum, which houses a collection of traditional Japanese toys, is another popular attraction.
