Tokugawa Art Museum

The Tokugawa Art Museum (徳川美術館) is a museum located in the city of Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the art and culture of the Tokugawa clan, one of the most powerful and influential families in Japan during the Edo period (1603-1868).

The museum’s collection includes over 12,000 items, including paintings, calligraphy, ceramics, lacquerware, and textiles, many of which were owned by the Tokugawa family. One of the most famous items in the collection is the Tale of Genji scroll, a rare 12th-century illustrated manuscript that is considered a national treasure of Japan.

The museum houses nine national treasures and 59 important cultural properties.
