Maruoka Castle

Maruoka Castle (丸岡城), located in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, is a mountain castle known as one of the 12 existing castle towers, built in the 16th century by Katsutoyo Shibata and later renovated by Narushige Honda, who became the lord of the castle. The castle tower is designated as a national important cultural property as it is a valuable structure that retains the style of the Warring States period.

Surrounded by a deep moat, the castle boasts a beautiful view like an island floating in a sea of clouds.
