Shinhotaka Ropeway

The Shinhotaka Ropeway (新穂高ロープウェイ) is a popular tourist attraction in the Okuhida Onsen area of Gifu Prefecture, Japan. This double-decker cable car system offers breathtaking views of the Northern Japan Alps, making it a favorite among visitors from all over the world.

The ropeway consists of two lines. The first takes passengers from Shinhotaka Onsen Station to Nabedaira Kogen Station. The second line continues the ascent from Shirakabadaira Station to Nishihotakaguchi Station, which is located at an altitude of 2,156 meters. Throughout the journey, visitors are treated to stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, including a panoramic vista of the Alpine Range.

At Nishihotakaguchi Station, visitors can enjoy a range of activities. The observation deck offers 360-degree panoramic views of the Northern Alps, providing a truly unforgettable experience. Nature lovers can explore the alpine flora in the nearby Senjojiki Cirque, known for its abundance of beautiful alpine flowers in the summer months.

Although there are no ski resorts directly at the top of the ropeway, the surrounding Okuhida Onsen area offers several ski resorts, making it a popular destination for skiing and snowboarding during the winter months. The Shin-Hotaka Onsen area also features various amenities such as hot spring hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops, providing visitors with a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
