Daio Wasabi Farm (大王わさび農場), located in the Hotaka area of Azumino City in Nagano Prefecture, is the largest wasabi farm in Japan, covering an expansive 15 hectares. The farm’s wasabi fields are fed by the pristine waters of the Northern Alps’ snowmelt and the renowned Azumino Wasabi Spring Water, recognized as one of Japan’s top 100 best waters. Visitors can stroll through the picturesque grounds, admiring the vast fields and the iconic watermills featured in Akira Kurosawa’s film “Dreams.”
The farm offers a variety of wasabi-themed culinary delights, including the unique wasabi soft serve ice cream, wasabi pickles, wasabi soba noodles, and other wasabi-infused products available at the on-site restaurant and shops. Visitors can also participate in guided tours to learn about the history and traditional cultivation methods of wasabi, or try their hand at making wasabi pickles or wasabi leaf tempura.
