Mount Myoko

Myoko (妙高) is a city located in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, in the northern part of Honshu island. The city is known for its natural beauty, outdoor activities, and hot springs.

One of the most popular attractions near Myoko is the Myoko Kogen (妙高高原) ski resort, which offers excellent skiing and snowboarding opportunities in the winter months. Myoko Kogen is located in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, adjacent to Myoko City. The resort features nine main ski areas, including Akakura Onsen and Ikenotaira Onsen, as well as a variety of other winter activities such as snowshoeing and snowmobiling. The five ski resorts located in Myoko Plateau are connected by shuttle buses, making it easy for visitors to explore the different areas.

During the summer months, the Myoko area is a popular destination for hiking and other outdoor activities. The city is surrounded by the Myoko Mountains, including the iconic Mount Myoko, which offer numerous trails for hikers of all skill levels. Visitors can also enjoy mountain biking, golfing, and other outdoor activities in the area. The Myoko Kogen area also boasts scenic spots like Lake Imori and Sasagamine Plateau, where visitors can enjoy hiking, camping, and cross-country skiing in winter. Getting there

By Shinkansen (Bullet Train)

  1. Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Nagano Station (about 90 minutes)
  2. From Nagano Station, take a local train to Myoko Kogen Station (about 45 minutes)
