Senkaku Bay

Senkaku Bay (尖閣湾) is a scenic bay located on the southwestern coast of Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The bay is renowned for its dramatic rock formations and cliffs, created by wave erosion over time, making it a popular destination for sightseeing cruises.

The waters around Senkaku Bay are home to various marine life, and visitors can often spot seabirds and fish during their boat trips.

One of the highlights of Senkaku Bay is the Senkakuwan Tourist Center, located within the Senkakuwan Ageshima Yuen Amusement Park. The center offers information about the unique geology and landforms of the bay, and it also provides access to the sightseeing boat tours. Inside the center, there is a small museum with exhibits on the bay’s geological formations.

From Ryotsu Port:

Take the Main Line bus bound for Aikawa (about 1 hour, 840 yen)
Transfer at Aikawa to the Kaifu Line bus to Senkaku Bay (about 15 minutes)

Note: As of April 1, 2024, the Kaifu Line bus requires advance reservations by 5:00 p.m. the previous day for Saturday, Sunday, and holiday travel.
