
Bitchu-Takahashi (備中高梁) is a small town located in the Okayama Prefecture of Japan. It is known for its historical significance and its well-preserved castle town, which is designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
The town’s main attraction is the Bitchu Matsuyama Castle, which is one of the few remaining mountaintop castles in Japan. The castle was built in the early 17th century and is known for its impressive defensive features, including steep cliffs and narrow paths leading up to the castle.
In addition to the castle, Bitchu-Takahashi has several other historical sites worth visiting, such as the Takahashi Old Town, which features well-preserved traditional Japanese buildings, and the Kiyomizu Temple, which dates back to the 12th century.
The town is also known for its traditional crafts, such as Bitchu Japanese paper, which has been produced in the area for over 1,300 years.
