
Shimane Prefecture (島根県) is a prefecture located in the Chugoku region of Honshu, the main island of Japan. It is situated to the east of Yamaguchi Prefecture and is bordered by the Sea of Japan to the north. The capital city is Matsue.
Shimane is known for its natural beauty, particularly its scenic coastlines, mountain ranges, and hot springs. One of the most famous landmarks in Shimane is the Izumo Taisha Shrine, which is one of the oldest and most important Shinto shrines in Japan.
