The Adachi Museum of Art (足立美術館) is a museum of contemporary Japanese art located in Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. It was founded in 1970 by Adachi Zenko, a businessman and art collector, who wanted to share his collection with the public and promote the appreciation of Japanese art.
The museum’s collection includes over 1,500 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and calligraphy, dating from the 20th century to the present day. The museum’s focus is on modern and contemporary Japanese art, and it features works by some of the most important artists of the 20th century, such as Yokoyama Taikan, Takeuchi Seihō, and Fujishima Takeji.
One of the museum’s most unique features is its extensive gardens, which cover over 165,000 square meters and are considered some of the most beautiful in Japan. The gardens are designed to complement the art on display, with carefully curated views that change with the seasons. Visitors can stroll through the gardens and enjoy the scenery from various viewpoints throughout the museum.
