Yushien Garden (由志園) is a Japanese-style garden located on Daikonshima Island in Lake Nakaumi, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, and was built in 1975 as part of a tourism development project.
Yushien Garden is known for its beautiful displays of seasonal flowers, including peonies, lotuses, and camellias. The garden features a large central pond surrounded by winding paths, small waterfalls, and traditional Japanese structures, such as a tea house and a bridge.
One of the garden’s main attractions is its collection of over 250 varieties of peonies, which bloom from late April to early June. The garden also has a large lotus pond, which is at its peak in July and August.
In addition to its seasonal displays, Yushien Garden is also known for its unique food offerings, such as “lotus root ice cream” and “lotus root tea,” which are made from the lotus plants grown in the garden.
