With a height of 1,729 meters (5,673 feet), it is the highest mountain in the Chugoku region and is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers.
The mountain is part of the Daisen-Oki National Park, which also includes the Oki Islands in the Sea of Japan. The park covers a total area of over 300,000 hectares (740,000 acres), and is known for its scenic beauty and diverse wildlife.
Mount Daisen is considered a sacred mountain in Japanese religion and has been a site of Shinto and Buddhist practices for centuries. It is home to several historic temples and shrines, including Daisen-ji Temple, which dates back to the 8th century.
