Iwakuni (岩国) is a city located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, in the western part of Japan’s main island of Honshu. The city is known for its historical and cultural attractions, as well as its beautiful natural scenery.
One of the most famous attractions in Iwakuni is the Kintaikyo Bridge, a wooden bridge built in 1673 over the Nishiki River. Visitors can walk across the bridge and enjoy the view of the river and surrounding mountains.
Another popular attraction in Iwakuni is Iwakuni Castle. The castle was originally built in 1608 and served as the residence of the local lord. Today, in addition to the stonewalls and moat from those days, visitors can see a reconstructed castle tower made of reinforced concrete, which was rebuilt in 1995.
