Motonosumi Inari Shrine

Motonosumi Inari Shrine

Motonosumi Inari Shrine (元乃隅稲荷神社) is a Shinto shrine located in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. It is situated on a hill overlooking the Sea of Japan and is known for its torii gate tunnel, a row of 123 red torii gates that leads up to the main shrine building.

The torii gate tunnel at Motonosumi Shrine is one of the longest in Japan and is considered one of the most beautiful. The gates were dedicated from 1987 to 2000 as a way to express gratitude to the gods and to pray for prosperity and good fortune.

In addition to the torii gate tunnel, Motonosumi Shrine is also known for its stunning views of the Sea of Japan and the surrounding countryside. The shrine is situated on a hill that offers panoramic views of the coastline and the nearby islands, making it a popular spot for photography and sightseeing.

Motonosumi Shrine is also famous for its annual festival, which is held on the first Sunday of February. The festival features a procession of portable shrines, as well as traditional music and dance performances.
