Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba announced the introduction of “same-day tickets” for the Osaka-Kansai Expo, set to open in April. These tickets will allow visitors to purchase admission on the day of their visit at the venue, simplifying the process by eliminating the need for prior online reservations or ID registration.
Theme and Objectives
The expo’s theme is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” with the following sub-themes:

Under this theme, Expo 2025 aims to accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and validate the feasibility of Japan’s national strategy, “Society 5.0.”
Venue and Scale

The event will be held on Yumeshima, an artificial island in Osaka Bay, covering approximately 155 hectares divided into eight zones. It is expected to attract about 28.2 million visitors over its duration, with an estimated 300,000 visitors per day.

- Japan Pavilion: Exhibiting smart city concepts and reinterpretations of traditional culture
- Future Technology Pavilion: Featuring hydrogen city models and zero-waste solutions

Expected Impact
Expo 2025 is envisioned not just as an event, but as a “People’s Living Lab” for co-creating future society. It is also expected to significantly boost the economic development and tourism industry of the Osaka–Kansai region.
Access to the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025
By Train (East Gate)
The nearest station is “Yumeshima Station” on the Osaka Metro Chuo Line. It takes about 20 minutes from Hommachi Station in central Osaka, or about 30 minutes including transfer time from JR Osaka Station or Osaka Metro Midosuji Line Umeda Station.
By Bus (West Gate)
- Station Shuttle Buses: Planned to operate from 10 locations in Osaka City and surrounding areas. Advance reservation required.
- Airport Buses: Direct services available from Kansai International Airport and Osaka International Airport (Itami Airport).
- Highway Buses: Operating from Kanto, Chubu, Hokuriku, Kansai, Chugoku, Shikoku regions, etc.
- Shuttle buses from JR Sakurajima Line (Yumesaki Line) Sakurajima Station.
All buses arrive at the Yumeshima First Transit Terminal in front of the West Gate.
Important Notes
- Direct access to the venue by private car is not allowed.
- All bus services require advance reservations through the KANSAI MaaS app.
- Large luggage items such as suitcases are prohibited inside the venue.
The use of public transportation is recommended for accessing the Expo venue.
