Shirogane Blue Pond (白金青い池) is a beautiful and unique body of water located in the town of Biei, Hokkaido, Japan. The pond is known for its vivid blue color, which is created by the natural minerals in the water and the reflection of the surrounding trees.
The Blue Pond was created in 1988 as part of an erosion control project for a nearby river. The water from the river was diverted into a man-made pond, which was then used to regulate the flow of water downstream. Over time, the minerals in the water caused the pond to take on a bright blue hue, making it a popular tourist attraction.
The area around the Blue Pond has been developed into a park, with several walking trails and observation decks for visitors to enjoy the view. There is also a small gift shop and cafe on site, selling souvenirs and snacks.
One of the most beautiful times to visit the Blue Pond is during the winter months, when the surrounding trees are covered in snow and the pond takes on a serene and almost otherworldly appearance. However, the Blue Pond is beautiful year-round, and is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Hokkaido.
