Clock Tower

Sapporo Clock Tower (札幌市時計台), also known as Tokeidai, is a historic landmark located in the city center of Sapporo, Japan. It is a wooden structure built in 1878 as a drill hall for the Sapporo Agricultural College (now Hokkaido University) and is recognized as the oldest building in Sapporo.

The clock tower is a symbol of the city and is considered one of the oldest and most recognizable buildings in Sapporo. It is a two-story building with a clock tower that stands at the entrance of a small park.

Inside the clock tower, visitors can find a museum that showcases the history of the building, the early days of Sapporo, and the development of Hokkaido University. There are also exhibits on the clock’s mechanism, which was made by the E. Howard & Co. company in Boston. Visitors can climb up to the second floor to see the clock tower up close and enjoy views of the surrounding area.
