Moerenuma Park

Moerenuma Park

Moerenuma Park (モエレ沼公園) is a public park located in Sapporo, Japan. It was designed by renowned Japanese-American artist and landscape architect Isamu Noguchi, and was opened in 2005. The park covers an area of 188 hectares, and its name comes from the Ainu language, which means “marshy and shallow lake.”

The park is known for its unique design, which blends nature and art in a harmonious way. It features a wide range of facilities, including a machine-made mountain, a large fountain, an artificial beach, a playground, a glass pyramid, and a concert hall. There are also several walking trails throughout the park, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy the natural surroundings.

One of the most popular features of Moerenuma Park is the Hidamari, a large glass pyramid that houses a gallery and exhibition space. The pyramid is surrounded by a large open space, which is used for events and performances throughout the year.

The park is also home to several sculptures and artworks created by Noguchi, including the TETRA MOUND and the Sea Fountain. These works of art add to the park’s unique character and make it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
