Mount Moiwa

Mount Moiwa (藻岩山) is a mountain located in Sapporo, with an elevation of 531 meters (1,742 feet). It is a popular tourist destination in Sapporo and offers stunning views of the city and surrounding areas, especially at night. The mountain’s night view has been selected as one of the “New Three Major Night Views of Japan.”

To reach the summit of Mount Moiwa, visitors can take a ropeway from the base of the mountain to the halfway point, and then transfer to a mini cable car (known as the Morris car) to reach the summit. Both options provide breathtaking views of the city and surrounding landscapes.

At the summit, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Sapporo from the observation deck, which offers 360-degree views. There is also a restaurant at the summit, serving local dishes and providing a unique dining experience with stunning views. The summit also features romantic spots like the “Bell of Happiness” and “Locks of Love,” making it a popular destination for couples.

In addition to the views, Mount Moiwa is also a popular spot for stargazing. The mountain is home to an observatory that houses a telescope and offers visitors the opportunity to observe the night sky. Visitors can also enjoy hiking trails and restaurants around the base of the mountain.
