Sapporo Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium

The Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium (大倉山ジャンプ競技場), located in Sapporo, the largest city in Hokkaido, Japan, is a renowned ski jumping venue famous for hosting the ski jumping events during the 1972 Winter Olympics. The stadium continues to be used for international competitions today.

The ski jump tower stands at 137 meters tall, offering breathtaking views of Sapporo and the surrounding mountains. Visitors can take a chairlift to the top of the tower to experience the same view as the ski jumpers and gain a sense of the immense height and steepness of the jump.

The stadium also houses the Sapporo Olympic Museum, which primarily focuses on the history of the Winter Olympics, with exhibits showcasing videos, photos, and equipment from various winter sports. The museum also features interactive displays that allow visitors to experience the sensation of ski jumping.

In addition to the museum, the stadium has a restaurant, a cafe, and a souvenir shop where visitors can purchase ski jumping-related merchandise and other local products.

By Public Transit

1. Take the Subway Namboku Line from Sapporo Station (bound for Makomanai)
2. Get off at Odori Station and transfer to the Subway Tozai Line (bound for Miyanosawa)
3. Get off at Maruyama Koen Station
4. From Maruyama Bus Terminal (connected to the subway station), take the JR Hokkaido Bus Okurayama Line ‘Kuramaru-go’ Bus
5. Get off at Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium Bus Stop (about 15 minutes ride)
