Uji

Getting there

By Train

From Kyoto Station:

  • Take the JR Nara Line to Uji Station.
  • Journey time: 20 minutes by rapid train or 30 minutes by local train.
  • Cost: 240 yen one way.
  • Trains run frequently, and the trip is covered by the Japan Rail Pass.

From Osaka Station:

  • Take the JR Kyoto Line to Kyoto Station, then transfer to the JR Nara Line to Uji Station.
  • Total journey time: About 45-60 minutes.

From Gion Area (Kyoto):

  • Take the Keihan Main Line to Chushojima Station, transfer to the Keihan Uji Line, and alight at Keihan Uji Station.
  • Journey time: About 30 minutes.
  • Cost: Around 350 yen (not covered by the Japan Rail Pass).

By Car

From Osaka:

  • Exit the Keiji Bypass at Uji Nishi IC and drive toward Uji for about 10 minutes.

From Tokyo/Nagoya:

  • Exit at Uji Higashi IC on the Keiji Bypass and drive for about 3 minutes.
