Mie Prefecture (三重県) is a prefecture located in the Kansai region of Honshu, the main island of Japan. It is situated to the east of Osaka Prefecture and is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the south. The capital city is Tsu.

Mie Prefecture is known for its natural beauty, rich history, and traditional culture. One of the most famous attractions in the prefecture is the Ise Grand Shrine, one of the most important Shinto shrines in Japan. The shrine is dedicated to the goddess Amaterasu and is rebuilt every 20 years using traditional techniques.

Other famous landmarks in Mie include the Toba Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in Japan, and the Kumano Kodo, a network of ancient pilgrimage routes that lead through the mountains and forests of the Kii Peninsula.

Mie Prefecture is also known for its seafood, including Ise ebi (spiny lobster) and Matsusaka beef, a high-quality beef known for its marbling and tenderness. The prefecture is also home to several traditional crafts, such as Ise-katagami (paper stencils used for dyeing fabric) and Iga-yaki pottery.
