Tateyama (館山) is a city located in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, on the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula. It is known for its scenic coastline, hot springs, and outdoor activities.
One of the main attractions in Tateyama is Shiroyama Park (城山公園), which features a reconstructed castle tower offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding area.
Tateyama is also known for its many beaches, such as Okinoshima Beach (沖ノ島), which has a beautiful sandy beach and clear waters, and is also a park with walking trails, an observation deck, and camping facilities. Visitors can enjoy swimming, surfing, and other water activities, or take a glass-bottom boat or underwater sightseeing tour to explore the marine life around the island.
In addition to its beaches, Tateyama is home to several hot springs and onsen resorts, where visitors can relax and soak in natural hot springs. Some of the most popular hot springs in the area include Shirahama Onsen and Yuya Onsen.
Tateyama is also famous for its flowers, especially the “Minamiboso Flower March,” held from January to March, with a million poppies in bloom. Visitors can also enjoy strawberry picking at many farms from January to May.
