Ikaho Onsen

Ikaho Onsen

Ikaho Onsen (伊香保温泉) is a hot spring resort located in the town of Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. It is known for its picturesque streets lined with traditional Japanese inns, or ryokans, as well as its natural hot springs, which are believed to have therapeutic properties.

The hot springs in Ikaho Onsen are sourced from Mount Haruna and are said to have been used for their healing properties since the Nara period (710-794). Today, visitors can soak in the hot springs at one of the many ryokans or public baths in the area.

In addition to hot springs, Ikaho Onsen is also famous for its stone steps, which are over 400 years old and are a popular spot for photos. The steps lead up to the Ikaho Shrine, which is dedicated to the god of water and prosperity.

Other attractions in the area include the Ikaho Green Bokujo (a farm where visitors can interact with farm animals), the Ikaho Toy, Doll and Car Museum, and the Ikaho Sistina Museum of Art, which houses a collection of Italian Renaissance art.
