Mount Haruna

Mount Haruna (榛名山) is a dormant volcano located in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. It is part of the Nikko National Park and is a popular destination for hikers, sightseers, and car enthusiasts.

The mountain has three peaks, the highest of which is Mount Haruna at 1,449 meters. The mountain is known for its stunning views, with the summit offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the nearby Mount Akagi and Mount Myogi.

By Train and Bus

From Tokyo Station:

  1. Take a Shinkansen to Takasaki Station (under 1 hour)
  2. Transfer to Gunma Bus Takasaki-Haruna Lake Line
  3. Get off at Lake Haruna (final stop)

  • Cost: 6,000-7,000 yen

By Bus from Ikaho Onsen

From Ikaho Bus Terminal:

  • Take the Ikaho-Harunako Line bus
  • Get off at Lake Haruna
  • Journey time: About 25 minutes
