Kusatsu International Ski Resort (草津国際スキー場) is a popular ski resort located in Kusatsu, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. The resort is renowned for its excellent snow conditions and caters to skiers and snowboarders of all levels.

The ski resort boasts a total of 10 ski runs, with the longest run stretching 3,500 meters. The highest accessible elevation at the resort is 1,600 meters. The runs are designed for beginners, intermediate, and advanced skiers, with designated areas for each level. The resort also features a terrain park for snowboarders and freestyle skiers.

Kusatsu International Ski Resort has 8 chairlifts providing convenient access to the slopes. The resort also offers rental equipment and ski schools for those new to skiing or snowboarding.

Beyond skiing and snowboarding, visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and sledding during winter. In the green season, the resort offers BBQ facilities for visitors to enjoy. Getting there

By Train and Bus

From Tokyo:

  1. Take the Limited Express Kusatsu-Shima from Ueno Station to Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station (2 hours 20 minutes)
  2. Transfer to a JR bus to Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal (25 minutes)
  3. Take a local bus or taxi to the ski resort

By Highway Bus

  • Direct highway buses from Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal to Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal
  • Journey time: About 4 hours
  • From the bus terminal, take a local bus or taxi to the ski resort

By Car

  • About 3 hours drive from Tokyo
  • Take the Kanetsu Expressway and exit at Shibukawa-Ikaho IC
  • Follow Route 353 to Kusatsu
