Ushiku Daibutsu (牛久大仏) is a giant statue of Buddha located in Ushiku City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, about 50 kilometers northeast of Tokyo. It is one of the tallest statues in the world, standing at a height of 120 meters including its base and 100 meters without the base.
The statue was completed in 1993 and is made of bronze. It is modeled after the Amida Buddha, a figure from Japanese Buddhist tradition that is associated with eternal light and infinite wisdom. Visitors can enter the statue and take an elevator to an observation deck near the top, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding area.
