Komagatake Ropeway

Komagatake Ropeway

The Komagatake Ropeway (箱根駒ヶ岳ロープウェー) is a popular tourist attraction in the Hakone area of Japan. It is a cable car system that connects Hakone-en Station (箱根園駅) on the shore of Lake Ashi to Komagatake Summit Station (駒ヶ岳山頂駅) near the top of Mount Komagatake. The seven-minute ride offers passengers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and forests, as well as the crystal-clear waters of Lake Ashi below.

At the top of Mount Komagatake, visitors can access an observation deck with panoramic views of the area, including Mount Fuji, Lake Ashi, Sagami Bay, the Izu Peninsula, Odawara, and the Shonan coast on clear days. The mountain also houses the Komagatake Shrine (Hakone Motomiya), which is considered a spiritual spot.

Visitors can explore several hiking trails around the summit, leading to various destinations such as the Lake Ashi shore, Owakudani, and Sounzan Station. These trails allow visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area. The ropeway operates year-round, with particularly stunning views during the autumn foliage season.
