Kamakura (鎌倉) is a coastal town located in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, about 50 kilometers south of Tokyo. It was the political center of Japan during the Kamakura period from 1185 to 1333 and is now a popular tourist destination known for its historical and cultural significance.
One of Kamakura’s most famous attractions is the Great Buddha of Kamakura, a large bronze statue of Amida Buddha that dates back to the 13th century. The statue stands at over 11 meters tall and is one of the most iconic symbols of Japan.
Other popular attractions in Kamakura include the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, which is dedicated to Hachiman, the god of war and patron of the samurai, and the Hokokuji Temple, which features a beautiful bamboo grove and a serene Zen Garden.
