Nagatoro (長瀞) is a small town located in the western part of Saitama Prefecture, Japan. It is situated in a scenic area surrounded by mountains and the Arakawa River, and is known for its natural beauty, outdoor activities, and cultural attractions. The highlight of Nagatoro is the Nagatoro Valley (長瀞渓谷), a stunning gorge carved by the Arakawa River, designated as a National Special Natural Monument and Place of Scenic Beauty. The valley is famous for its unique rock formations, including the Iwadatami Rocks (岩畳), a series of flat rocks that resemble tatami mats.
