Akechidaira (明智平) is a scenic spot located in the city of Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Its name is said to be derived from the Sengoku warlord Akechi Mitsuhide. It is known for its beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, especially Mount Nantai, a sacred mountain in the region.

One of the main attractions of Akechidaira is the Akechidaira Ropeway, which takes visitors up to the observation deck at the top of the mountain. The ropeway offers stunning views of Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Falls, Mount Nantai, and on clear days, even the Kanto Plain. It is particularly popular during the autumn foliage season. Visitors can also reach the observation deck by car via the Chuzenji Lake Skyline.

In addition to the Akechidaira Ropeway, visitors can enjoy hiking trails, hot springs, and other outdoor activities in the area. The nearby Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Falls are also popular tourist destinations. In winter, Akechidaira transforms into a ski resort, offering skiing and snowboarding opportunities with enchanting snow-covered scenery.

Other attractions in the vicinity include Chuzenji Temple, the Italian Embassy Villa Memorial Park, and the British Embassy Villa Memorial Park.
