Kumamoto Prefecture (熊本県) is a prefecture located on the island of Kyushu, one of the four main islands of Japan. It is situated to the east of Nagasaki Prefecture and is bordered by the Ariake Sea to the west and the East China Sea to the south. The capital city is Kumamoto.
Kumamoto is known for its history and culture, including Kumamoto Castle, one of Japan’s most famous castles, and Suizenji Jojuen Garden, a beautiful traditional Japanese garden that features a small replica of Mount Fuji.
The prefecture is also famous for its natural beauty, including Mount Aso, an active volcano that is one of the largest in the world, and Kusasenri, a vast meadow at the foot of Mount Aso that is covered in wildflowers and other vegetation.
Kumamoto is also known for its delicious cuisine, including Kumamoto ramen, a type of ramen that is famous for its rich pork-based broth and chewy noodles.
