Oita Prefectural Art Museum

The Oita Prefectural Art Museum (OPAM), opened in April 2015, is a contemporary art museum located in the heart of Oita City. Designed by architect Shigeru Ban, the museum’s distinctive exterior, featuring a latticework of wood, is a striking sight.

Based on the concept of “a museum of encounters and the five senses,” OPAM showcases a diverse range of contemporary art, including works by artists connected to Oita Prefecture, as well as domestic and international contemporary art. The museum also hosts special exhibitions and workshops, making it an enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages.

Inside the museum, you’ll find a spacious atrium, a café, and a museum shop, offering visitors a place to relax and unwind.
