
Umitamago (うみたまご), also known as Oita Marine Palace Aquarium Umitamago, is an aquarium located in the city of Oita, in Oita Prefecture, Japan. The aquarium features a variety of marine life exhibits, including fish, sharks, rays, sea turtles, dolphins, sea lions, penguins, and other animals.
One of the main attractions at Umitamago is the “Kuroshio Tank,” which is a massive tank that recreates the Kuroshio Current, a warm ocean current that flows along the southern coast of Japan. Visitors can observe a wide variety of fish swimming in the tank, including rays and sharks.
Umitamago also offers various interactive exhibits and experiences, such as the chance to touch stingrays and starfish, as well as the opportunity to watch dolphin and sea lion shows.
In addition to the aquarium, Umitamago also has a restaurant and a souvenir shop.
Monkey Marine tickets, which are shared admission tickets with the adjacent facility, Takasakiyama Monkey Park, are available.
