
With the 2025 summer climbing season approaching, online reservations for climbing Mt. Fuji—especially the popular Yoshida Trail on the Yamanashi side—officially open today, Thursday, April 24. This year, new regulations have been introduced, making advance booking and pre-payment mandatory for all climbers. If you’re planning to scale Japan’s most iconic peak, it’s recommended to secure your spot as soon as possible.
2025 Season Opening Dates
The official climbing season for Mt. Fuji in 2025 is as follows:

The Yoshida Trail on the Yamanashi side opens from July 1 to September 10, 2025. The other three trails on the Shizuoka side (Fujinomiya, Gotemba, Subashiri) open from July 10 to September 10, 2025. Please note that these dates are subject to change based on weather and safety conditions.
New Rules for 2025
To address the growing number of climbers, ensure safety, and protect the natural environment, stricter regulations are in place for the 2025 season. For the Yoshida Trail (Yamanashi side):
- Daily climber limit: 4,000 people per day
- Mandatory trail fee: ¥4,000 per person, payable in advance online
- Reservation required: You must book your climbing date and pay the fee before your hike

- Reservation opening: April 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM. JST

- Required information: Climbing date, number of climbers, whether you plan a day trip or overnight stay
- Payment: Credit card or other online payment methods (¥4,000 per person)
- Digital ticket: Issued after payment, required for entry at the trail gate
Shizuoka Side Reservations Open May 9
For the other main routes on the Shizuoka side (Fujinomiya, Gotemba, Subashiri), advance registration and payment will be required starting May 9, 2025. These trails will also require a ¥4,000 fee, but no daily cap has been announced for them yet.
