Kagawa Prefecture (香川県) is a prefecture located on the island of Shikoku, one of the four main islands of Japan. It is situated to the north of Tokushima Prefecture and is bordered by the Seto Inland Sea to the south. The capital city is Takamatsu.
Kagawa is known for its delicious cuisine, particularly its Sanuki Udon, a type of thick and chewy wheat noodle that is a local specialty. Sanuki Udon is served in a variety of ways, such as in hot broth, cold with dipping sauce, or stir-fried with vegetables and meat.
Other famous landmarks in Kagawa include the Ritsurin Garden, a stunning traditional Japanese garden that is designated as a Special Scenic Spot of Japan, and the Yashima Temple, a historic temple that is situated on a hill overlooking the city of Takamatsu.
Kagawa is also known for its art, particularly its contemporary art scene. The Setouchi Triennale, an art festival that takes place once every three years, is held in various locations throughout the Seto Inland Sea, including several islands off the coast of Kagawa.
