Muroto Global Geopark Center

Muroto UNESCO Global Geopark Center (室戸ユネスコ世界ジオパークセンター) is a visitor center located in Muroto City, Kochi Prefecture, Japan. It serves as the main hub for visitors to the Muroto UNESCO Global Geopark, which was designated in 2011 for its geological significance and encompasses the entire administrative district of Muroto City, covering an area of approximately 248 square kilometers.

The center provides a wealth of information and educational resources about the unique geological features, diverse natural environment, and rich cultural heritage of the Muroto Geopark. Exhibits showcase the area’s distinct geological formations, such as its uplifted marine terraces and coastal cliffs, as well as fossils, volcanic activity, and the region’s biodiversity.
