Hirosaki Castle

Hirosaki Castle

Hirosaki Castle (弘前城) is a historic castle located in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, in the northern part of Honshu, the main island of Japan. It was originally built in 1611 by the Tsugaru clan, who were the local rulers of the area at the time.

The castle complex consists of several buildings and structures, including a main keep, towers, gates, and walls.

One of the most famous features of Hirosaki Castle is its cherry blossom park, which is located on the castle grounds and is considered one of the best places in Japan to view cherry blossoms in the spring. The park features over 2,500 cherry trees of various types, which bloom from late April to early May each year.

Another popular attraction at Hirosaki Castle is the Hirosaki Castle Festival, which is held annually in late April and early May to coincide with the cherry blossom season. The festival features a range of events and activities, including traditional music and dance performances, food stalls, and illuminations of the cherry blossom trees at night.
