Sukayu Onsen

Sukayu Onsen

Sukayu Onsen (酸ヶ湯温泉) is a hot spring resort located in Aomori Prefecture, in the northern part of Japan’s main island of Honshu. The resort is situated in the Hakkoda Mountains, which are known for their natural beauty and stunning scenery.

Sukayu Onsen has a long history, dating back to the Edo period (1603-1868), and is one of the oldest hot spring resorts in Japan. The resort is famous for its large, communal bathhouse, which is made entirely of cypress wood and has a distinctive, traditional design.

The water at Sukayu Onsen is said to have healing properties and is believed to help relieve various ailments, including rheumatism and nerve pain. The hot spring water is also said to have a soothing effect on the skin and is believed to help promote relaxation and improve overall well-being.

In addition to the communal bathhouse, Sukayu Onsen also offers private baths, traditional Japanese-style rooms, and a restaurant serving local cuisine. The resort is popular among both Japanese and foreign tourists, and is especially popular during the winter months, when visitors come to enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the nearby Hakkoda Mountains.
