By Train

  1. Take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Utsunomiya Station
  2. Transfer to the Tohoku Main Line to Koriyama Station
  3. Change to the Ban-etsu West Line to Aizu-Wakamatsu Station
  4. From Aizu-Wakamatsu Station, take a local bus or taxi to Higashiyama Onsen (about 10 minutes)

By Highway Bus

Direct highway buses are available from major cities to Aizu-Wakamatsu Station. From there, take a local bus or taxi to Higashiyama Onsen.

By Car

  • From Tokyo: Take the Tohoku Expressway to Utsunomiya Junction, then the Tohoku-Chuo Expressway to Aizu-Wakamatsu Interchange
  • Travel time: About 4 hours

From Nearby Airports

  • From Niigata Airport: Take a limousine bus to Niigata Station, then transfer to a train or bus to Aizu-Wakamatsu
  • From Fukushima Airport: Take a limousine bus to Koriyama Station, then transfer to a train to Aizu-Wakamatsu
