The Aquamarine Fukushima (アクアマリンふくしま) is an aquarium located in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. It is situated on the eastern coast of Japan, facing the Pacific Ocean.
The aquarium features a variety of aquatic life from the Fukushima region and beyond, including dolphins, seals, penguins, and various species of fish. The aquarium also has two giant water tanks that represent the border between the Kuroshio and Oyashio currents, with a total water capacity of 2,050 tons.
The aquarium was severely damaged in the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011, but reopened on July 15, 2011 after extensive renovation work. It is now a popular tourist attraction in Fukushima, and is dedicated to promoting marine conservation and education.
