Jodogahama (浄土ヶ浜), a picturesque beach located in the Miyako region of Iwate Prefecture on Japan’s Honshu Island, is renowned for its crystal-clear blue waters, towering cliffs, and unique rock formations sculpted by waves and wind over time.
Part of the Sanriku Fukko National Park, which encompasses a stretch of coastline along the Pacific Ocean, Jodogahama is surrounded by lush green forests and is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and photographers. Visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, such as swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and exploring the rocky shoreline.
One of the main attractions of Jodogahama is the striking contrast between the deep blue sea, the white sandy beach, and the rugged cliffs that rise above it. The Jodogahama Visitor Center offers insights into the area’s natural and cultural significance. Free and paid parking lots are available for visitors.
At Jodogahama Rest House, visitors can enjoy light meals and purchase souvenirs. Additionally, the Jodogahama Pleasure Boat offers a unique perspective of the stunning scenery from the sea. The rest house also features an exhibit dedicated to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.
