Onagawa

Onagawa (女川町) is a town located in the Miyagi Prefecture of Japan, situated on the Pacific coast. The town is known for its scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage.

One of the main attractions of Onagawa is the Onagawa Bay, which is considered one of the most beautiful bays in Japan. Visitors can enjoy a variety of water sports such as swimming, boating, and fishing in the crystal-clear waters of the bay. The bay is also home to a wide variety of marine life, including dolphins and sea turtles.

Onagawa Town is also known for its fresh seafood, including saury, which is caught daily. Onagawa Town has many restaurants and markets where visitors can enjoy local seafood dishes.

Onagawa was severely damaged by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, but today Onagawa is making a strong recovery by creating a beautiful town with disaster preparedness in mind.
