Kamo Aquarium (加茂水族館) is a public aquarium located in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. It opened in 1930 and is known for its unique focus on jellyfish.
The aquarium features over 60 species of jellyfish from around the world, with a total of over 10,000 jellyfish on display. It is home to the largest collection of jellyfish in the world, with a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes.
In addition to jellyfish, the aquarium also features exhibits on other marine life, including fish, sea turtles, and crustaceans. The aquarium’s “Deep Sea Zone” exhibit showcases deep sea creatures such as giant spider crabs and bioluminescent fish.
One of the main attractions of the Kamo Aquarium is the unique dish “Jellyfish Ramen” served at the aquarium’s restaurant. Not only are jellyfish grains kneaded into the surface, but the ramen is actually topped with jellyfish.
The Kamo Aquarium is also known for its unique night-time exhibits, where the jellyfish are illuminated in darkened tanks, creating a surreal and mesmerizing atmosphere.
